Forklift Certification
Tuesday, May 15th, 2012“
Forklifts are potentially very dangerous pieces of equipment, with one source stating that there are around 68,000 accidents recorded each year in the United States alone as the result of incompetent operation of a forklift truck.
Another source says that around 100 people a year are killed by a forklift truck. Bearing this in mind, anything that can reduce such accidents and makes the operation of forklifts safer is clearly a good thing. This applies whether you are the employee who is potentially at risk of injury or even death because you dont know how to do your job safely, or you are the employer who is responsible for the safety of your employees.
The aim of the OSHA regulations is therefore to ensure that anyone who operates a forklift truck has the necessary skills to do so safely and efficiently. Under the regulations an employer is required to ensure that any employee who operates a forklift has the correct forklift certification, no matter what the industry (the only exception is when a forklift is required for agricultural use.) Forklifts are used widely in differing environments, including indoor spaces such as warehouses and outdoor spaces in differing industries. Any training is designed to ensure safe operation in such environments. Forklift Certification If you wish to operate a forklift truck, your employer must provide a course which is OSHA approved, and it is necessary for you to take the course and pass.
It is also possible to take a course and obtain forklift certification yourself using an external organization, however it remains the employers responsibility to ensure that you are certified.
Doing this can greatly enhance your job prospects and make you much more employable, simply because from the employers perspective if they take someone on who already has their forklift certification they dont need to invest money and time into training them and giving them their forklift certification. Forklift certifications generally last for two or three years, however this does not mean that further training is not required after the person has obtained their forklift certification.
The operator may require refresher training, for example, in order to ensure that they continue to operate forklift trucks safely over the long term. Further training may be required if the forklift operator has been involved in an accident or it is seen by the organization they are working for that they are operating the forklift in an unsafe manner. Organizations can be fined up to $7000 per untrained operator, so from an employers point of view it is absolutely imperative that they ensure all operative employees are properly certified to use forklift trucks. In short, forklift certification is necessary. forklift certificates, forklift certification, forklift certification card, forklift certification card template, forklift certification form, forklift certification in milwaukee, forklift certification online, forklift certification osha, forklift certification requirements, forklift certification test, forklift certification training, forklift license, how to get forklift certification, OSHA forklift certification Search Search for: Recent PostsForklift TrainingOSHA Forklift CertificationHow to get forklift certified?
